The Genitive case

The Genitive case affects a noun only in two instances. It is indicated by:

  • the vowel endings ــٍـ or ــِـ
  • ينَ for sound masculine plural
  • ينِ for dual
A noun is in the genitive case in two instances:
  1. after a preposition
  2. as the 2nd noun in the possessive construct
